Mai Po Bird Pin - White-throated Kingfisher

One of four common species of Kingfisher at Mai Po. They mainly prey on fish, but sometimes also consume flying insects and frogs. It can be found at fish pond and gei wai. Common in autumn and winter. Breeds in Hong Kong. It often perches near water edge and has a high pitched loud ‘cacking’ call.
